New word

Just a quick note- while we were playing with Ethan's car garage last night, he pointed to the little clock sticker on the top and said "what's that?" When I answered and said "clock," he immediately said "clock" clear as day! It was so cool!! So, that's one more word to add to the list! Go Ethan!! : )

Mr. Cool

Ethan having fun with Mom's sunglasses, doing his Ray Charles impersonation.

Independence Day

We've finally realized that we need to stop spoon-feeding Ethan and let him try on his own. I've relinquished control of the spoon sporadically over the past few months, but I think now I will give it up completely. I'm just lazy and don't want to clean up the mess, so that's why I've fed him myself for so long. But now that he's showing progress in so many other arenas I figured he was ready to start feeding himself. So here is one of his attempts at eating yogurt by himself. He prefers the finger feeding method, as you can see. What a mess!

He works hard for the money

Little guy always looks so cute when he gets dressed up for church, but we thought today's outfit was particularly adorable. I just love the argyle vest and of course the white shirt and khakis. So freakin' cute. He looks like he's off to a desk job at VH1 or something.

Well hello there, Mommy

Oh uhhh, I'm not trying to open this door, really!! I was just admiring this lovely knob; wherever did you find it?

Quit following me!!!!!

Hmm, this movie looks particularly stupid...

Valet parking anyone?

Here's Ethan playing with the infamous $2 garage. He pretty much plays with it to the exclusion of everything else. Paul even bought a little kiddie-sized picnic table at IKEA to put it on. It's really cute!!

Hey, get away from my toy!

Happy birthday in August!!

Man, I am so happy with my new toy! Wait, I'm supposed to play with other stuff too? NO WAY!!!!

Zoo fun

Here's Daddy with Ethan at the National Zoo about a month ago. We got to see the elephants playing and the little baby elephant nursing- it was really cool! Ethan loved it!

Beach Bums

Here we are at Virginia Beach about four weeks ago. We're squinting because the wind was blowing really hard and we were getting sand in our eyes. Fun.

Welcome to our world!

Howdy ya'all! Well, we've got a few friends who are bloggers and swear it is an easy, convenient way to keep in touch with family, so I thought I'd give it a try. I apologize in advance if it sucks.

We are all hanging in there, taking life one day at a time. Paul is busy with work and Scout stuff, as usual. He still really likes BAH, but hates the commute. I am trying to finish my summer class but will need an extension because of all the craziness of the last three weeks. I completed the lab portion of the class last weekend, so at least that is out of the way. Ethan is his same old cheerful self, running around the house squealing and saying "what's that?" to just about everything. He can also say "ball," "oof-oof" for dog, "night-night," "toot toot" for train and probably a few others I am forgetting. He completely understands everything we say and is able to point to most things if you ask him to (i.e., Ethan, where are the shoes? and he'll point to the shoes, etc.). We are just happy he's finally communicating, even if it is on the most rudimentary level. The other thing he likes to do these days is dance. I'll turn the radio on while I'm making dinner sometimes and Ethan will kind of bounce up and down and turn around in circles to dance. It's the cutest thing! We should try to capture it on video. He also likes his new toy garage that I got at Goodwill for $2 (so proud of myself for that). It was supposed to be a birthday present but we couldn't keep it from him. So, happy birthday three months early!!

There really isn't much else going on. I think we've all had enough drama to last us the rest of the year, so I'm not really complaining. I guess next on the horizon is Halloween, for which I totally intend to steal Cyrus's idea of the Luke/Yoda backpack thing. Sorry, guys. It was too cute to pass up. We did Chewie last year, so we've got to stick with the theme. I may not be able to pull it off since I'm totally un-creative when it comes to making clothing/costumes, but we'll see.

Anyway, I'll try to keep this thing relatively updated and put some cute pictures of little man up. Everyone likes those. It's better than pictures of me and Paul.
